Hippos can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes underwater.
Despite their size, hippos can run up to 19 mph on land.
Hippos secrete a reddish oily fluid that acts as sunscreen and antibacterial lotion.
Hippos are herbivores, but they're extremely territorial and aggressive.
A group of hippos is called a “bloat” or a “pod.”
